Our Charity Project: BirthSpace Giving
At BirthSpace, we believe every woman deserves access to a safe, gentle, and supported birth experience — regardless of where she lives or her financial circumstances.
Yet in many communities around the world, access to safe water birth equipment, birth education, and maternal support remains limited.
That’s why we created BirthSpace Giving.
Each year, we donate free Evia biodegradable water birth pools to underserved communities in Africa and beyond, helping more women experience the comfort, safety, and support of water birth during labour.
But this project is about more than pools.
It’s about education, empowerment, and sustainable change. It’s about supporting mothers, midwives, and birth workers in creating calmer, safer beginnings for women and babies alike.
We are honoured to work alongside Barbara Harper, founder of Waterbirth International and author of Gentle Birth Choices. Together, we help ensure communities receive not only pools, but also the training and knowledge needed to use them confidently and safely.
Through this initiative, we hope to create ripples of change — one birth, one family, and one community at a time.
And you can help make that possible.
By donating through our website, you directly support the donation of water birth pools, birth education, and maternal support resources to communities that need them most.
Barbara Harper
In 1988, inspired by her own experiences with water during pregnancy and birth, Barbara Harper founded Waterbirth International to help share the practice of water birth with families around the world.
What began as a personal passion grew into a global movement, helping bring gentler, safer, and more compassionate birth options to hospitals, birth centres, and homes across six continents.
Over the past three decades, Barbara has trained more than 25,000 birth professionals in over 80 countries, consulted on the design of water birth suites, and helped develop protocols now used internationally.
Through her book Gentle Birth Choices and her ongoing educational work, she continues to support the next generation of midwives, doctors, doulas, and families seeking more supported and informed birth experiences.
“When we change the way we are born, we change the world.”
